Terms of Use

The terms on which this website is made available. These govern your use of jayattorneys.com — they are not our terms of engagement with clients.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

This site is not legal advice

Everything on this website is general information about areas of law in which Jay Inc practises. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice on your own situation.

The law changes, and the way it applies depends entirely on the facts. A page about bail, divorce or eviction cannot tell you what will happen in your matter. Only a conversation about your facts can do that.

Do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything you read here without speaking to an attorney.

No attorney–client relationship

Reading this website, sending us an enquiry through it, or emailing or telephoning us does not by itself make us your attorneys.

An attorney–client relationship arises only when we have discussed your matter, checked that we have no conflict of interest, agreed to act, and confirmed that in writing.

Until then, what you send us is not covered by legal professional privilege. Please do not send details of a live matter that you would not want read by anyone else — telephone us instead.

Past matters are not a prediction

Where this website describes matters the firm has acted in, those are records of what happened in those cases. Every matter turns on its own facts, its own evidence and its own court. Nothing on this site is a promise or a prediction about the outcome of yours.

Accuracy

We take care to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is free of error or fully up to date at any given moment. Legislation and case law move faster than websites do.

Links to other sites

This site links to news reports and other external pages. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement. External links may stop working over time as publications reorganise their archives.

Intellectual property

The text, design, layout and logo on this site belong to Jay Incorporated or are used with permission. You may read, print and share pages for your own information. You may not republish, sell or present our content as your own.

Headlines and publication names quoted in the media section belong to their respective publishers and are referred to for identification only.

Availability and liability

We provide this website as it is. We do not guarantee it will always be available or uninterrupted.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on its general information. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects our professional obligations to clients we actually act for.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.

Regulation

Jay Incorporated is a firm of attorneys practising in the Republic of South Africa and its practitioners are admitted attorneys of the High Court of South Africa, regulated by the Legal Practice Council in terms of the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014.

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
